From our headquarters in Red Bank, New Jersey, Coastal Commodities manages and serves a global network of producers, exporters, warehouses, logistics providers, roasters, and retailers. Over more than three decades, we have grown into one of the largest coffee trading houses in North America while preserving the business model, discipline, and customer focus that brought us there.

Our model is intentionally different. Coastal Commodities operates with a lean, low-overhead structure that provides flexibility and scale without compromise. We are not burdened by the bureaucracy, speculative mindset, or layered decision-making that often define large legacy trading houses. Instead, we direct our resources where they create the most value for our customers: responsible sourcing, logistics execution, quality, market expertise, sustainability, and innovative customer commercial solutions tailored to each partner’s needs.

Unlike many trading houses that build positions first and then attempt to place them in the market, Coastal Commodities begins with the needs of the customer. We work closely with our partners to design sourcing programs specifically for their business—developing custom coffee specifications, contract terms, and commercial structures that align with their operational requirements, quality goals, needs of management, and risk management strategies. Our objective is not to place speculative long or short positions, but to build durable responsibly sourced supply programs that benefit the customer and consistently drive value through the chain.

This approach allows us to remain agile in rapidly changing coffee markets while still providing the operational capability and global supply chain reach expected from a major trading partner. Coastal Commodities has introduced services, sourcing concepts, and commercial solutions that historically did not exist in the industry—because we believe the strongest partnerships are built by aligning our success with the success of our customers.

At the same time, our partners benefit from access to leading sustainability programs, dedicated research and market intelligence capabilities, and proprietary supply relationships developed over decades in the coffee trade. These programs and partnerships provide meaningful advantages that are difficult to replicate elsewhere in the industry, and most important are provided all without the enormous administrative premiums charged elsewhere.

Perhaps most importantly, Coastal Commodities remains owner-operated.
